LSAT Preparation - LSAT Explanations

How To Interpret Results of the LSAT Computer Analysis

-Overall Analysis

-Total Questions Correct

Lists total questions answered correctly. Use this number to determine exact scaled LSAT score with the Score Conversion Chart at the back of each LSAT test.

-Total Questions Incorrect

Lists total questions answered incorrectly.

-Total Questions Blank

Lists total questions left blank. Always guess, as there is no guessing penalty on the LSAT.

-Logical Reasoning

-Author's Point

Questions ask for author's main conclusion or main point.

-Identify Assumption

Questions ask for which assumption an argument depends upon.

-Support Argument

Questions ask to strengthen or support an argument, usually through affirming an assumption made by the author.

Questions ask to weaken an argument, usually through denying an assumption.

-Argument Structure

Questions will ask about argument organization, reasoning technique, or role of a statement within argument.

-Draw Conclusion/Inference

Questions will ask for which conclusion may be properly drawn, or which information is most strongly supported by passage.

-Error/Misinterpretation

Questions ask to identify a flaw, error or misinterpretation in an argument.

-Resolve Conflicting Facts

Questions ask which information will resolve a discrepancy.

-Fill In Blank

Argument will have a blank space that must be filled in. These questions are similar to Draw Conclusion/Inference questions, but on occasion the correct choice will identify an author's assumption.

-Point at Issue

Test-takers must identify exact point of disagreement between two authors.

-Principle

Questions will ask either to identify or apply a principle, or which principle would help to justify an argument.

-Parallel Reasoning

An argument is listed and test-taker must find a second argument that is most similar in structure -- content and wording are irrelevant.

-Parallel Error

Similar to Parallel Reasoning, however a flaw exists within the argument.

-Additional Evidence

Questions will ask which information would be useful to evaluate the argument.

-Other Any Logical Reasoning question that does not fit into other categories.
